Joanna Lilley, MA, NCC

For the entire month of May, in honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, Joanna is bringing you a special parent series, where she interviews parents whose children have overcome a variety of mental health challenges. Today’s episode of Success is Subjective is a conversation between Joanna and the father of two sons, York. York shares the mental health challenges his older son faced, which eventually led to alcohol abuse, stays at psychiatric hospitals and eventually, wilderness therapy followed by therapeutic boarding school. York happily reports of his son’s dramatic improvement and how he now mentors and sponsors others in AA. York gives enlightening advice for parents who are looking to improve themselves and shares how this process of supporting his son led to his own personal growth and even a rewarding career change.
